Welcome to Azerbaijan !  The country of flames where east flavor is amazingly harmonize with Western progress. Azerbaijan has a centuries-old history with its own customs and traditions, unique nature, particulare nature, exquisite cuisine that will satisfy the expectations of the most demanding gourmet, and, finally, this Caucasian friendliness and hospitality.

Azerbaijan is located in the eastern part of the South Caucasus on the coast of the Caspian Sea. The country’s population is over 9.8 million people, the territory is 86,600 km², in both of these indicators Azerbaijan is the largest country in the South Caucasus. Baku is the capital and largest city of the country.

Being a part of the Great Silk Road and located at the cross-roads of geopolitical, economic and cultural interests of many nations and civilizations, Azerbaijan aroused interest among great minds, scientists, travelers and historians. Nowadays  the country represents a unique heritage such as Rock paintings in Gobustan, the Momine-Khatun and Garabaglar mausoleums, the Palace of Sheki khans, the Maiden Tower, the Absheron castles, medieval manuscripts decorated with brilliant miniatures, ancient carvings, works of literature, painting and sculpture are only a small part of this priceless heritage.

Azerbaijan is often called the “Land of Fire”. It is known that most of the population living on this territory before our era was fire-worshipers. Since that time, the most ancient evidences have been preserved on the territory of the country: rock paintings, statues of deities and ancient temples.

Fire rhetoric, handed down from generation to generation, has been reflected in the many works of Azerbaijani masters for centuries and even todays it is represented in the building of “Flame Towers” overlooking the Old City transformed the skyline.
