The best views are from caves of Vardzia, a mighty mountain tuff that you can reach by small bus which departs from the ticket office . The city was founded in 12th century and has an over eight hundred year history. Vardzia rates as ‘one of Georgia’ national treasures’. Here preserves hundreds of caves, living quarters, refectories, The Church of the Dormition, dating to the 1180s during the golden age of Queen Tamar reign and has an important series of wall paintings. The biggest treasure of this place is the Church of Dormition where saved the frescoes of 12th C,Tamar and her father Giorgi III.
In 1283, only a century after its construction, a devastating earthquake literally ripped the place apart. The quake shattered the mountain slope and destroyed more than two-thirds of the city, exposing the hidden innards of the remainder.
Vardzia is atmospheric place to a truly wonderful Samtskhe -Javakheti region of Georgia.
Feel like royalty or a knight of the realm by checking into a real Georgian fortress. Rabati Fortress provide the visitor with a vivid picture of life in 16-18th С. The Fortress was built in the 13th century, Rabati castle developed under the influence of different cultures over subsequent centuries and this is reflected in its architecture. Within the 7 hectares castle complex there is a Church, a Mosque, a Minaret and a Synagogue.
Resort town Borjomi. The town is famous for its mineral water industry (which is the number one export of Georgia).Because of the supposed restorative and healing powers of the area’s mineral springs, it is a frequent destination for people with health problems. Borjomi is also home to the most extensive ecologically park in the Caucasus, Borjomi- Kharagauli National Park.
